Awesome Auckland

Last Tuesday I went to Auckland with my family. First it was a long, hard drive I was bored out of my mind. When we got in Auckland my uncle called my mum because before we left my dad went in his van because we needed to get stuff for our restaurant. Then we agreed meet up at a place where my mum and aunty went shopping. Then we went to an Indian shop to eat after that, me and my dad went home because my dad had to do some work and my uncles car was already full. Then we drove home and then me and my dad went to Greens because my dad had to work. After that my aunt picked me up and we drove home.

Directing Directions

In Te Ngahere we have been learning how to follow directions. Our teacher gave us a piece of paper and the paper was upside down then the teacher said don't touch the paper until I say. It was a reading test and we only had 4 minutes to finish the test. We did a reading test so we could remember to always read the question carefully. But there was a plot twist at the beginning and end because it said read all the questions carefully before doing anything. I thought while you go down question by question,  you actually had to read all the questions carefully before doing any thing and then the 23rd question said now that you have finished reading everything carefully only do questions 1 and 2. I was so mad at myself for not understanding the first question.

Have you ever done a reading test at the beginning of the term and did it have a plot twist?

Curriculum Coastal Seas

This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about Coastal Seas. Our teacher put on a documentary about Coastal Seas. We had our chromebook next to us so we had to write down some facts about Coastal Seas. I learnt that there are 25 percent more sharks in the sea now. We got our information from the video and our facts.

Have you ever learnt about Coastal Seas?

The Great Greens

In Te Ngahere we went to Greens (a restaurant that my family owns) to have lunch because it was my birthday and we took the entire class. The food was served in plates and it looked delicious. When our food arrived we all demolished our plates and it was so delicious I felt very delighted. When we were done eating we gave the class a little surprise, we got a trolly full of Easter eggs and gave one box to every person. When we were done eating two of my classmates stood up Angela and Jade who then gave me a letter with everyones name and the sang happy birthday to me in English and Maori. In the end we did a waiata to the chefs and my parents to say thank you.

Have you ever been to a restaurant before?

Turbulent Task Master

This week In Te Ngahere we have been doing task master. Task master is when a teacher draws a drawing and hangs it up on the window opposite to inside the classroom so you can only see it from the outside. There are 2 runners that run outside and come back to tell the drawer what to draw the drawer can not run outside or see the drawing and the runner can not use their hands to show where to draw they have to use there descriptive words. We did task master to learn how to use descriptive words and learn how to work together. The first time we tried to do task master what worked well was that we used some lines on the paper for example we were talking like go up 2 or go down 5. The first time we tried to do task master what didn't work well was that everyone was in a rush and everyone was shouting. It was challenging to not touch the paper a
nd it was getting frustrating. The second time we did taskmaster  we didn't shout and rush that much.  What worked well the second time was that we took more time more then last time and that made it more precise. What didn't work well was talking to the drawer fast because if you talk fast to the drawer the drawer doesn't know what you are trying to say because you are saying it to fast. What was challenging was that we had to do it fast and precise. My group’s drawings compared to are teachers i say not bad.

The Fabulous Food Web

This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about Food Webs. The teachers gave us some photos of animals and then we had to connect arrows to what eats what. As you can see my doc is different to the teachers doc that she made because mine doesn't have different colours. Mine is different because mine doesn't look complicated. I learnt that tui eat kowhai flowers of the kowhai tree and stoats eat possums. Mine is different because mine says birds are eaten by plants. Mine is different because it doesn't have different colours. Mine is different because mine doesn't look complicated.

The arrows are supposed to pont off the one that gets eaten and point to the one that eats it. What I know about food webs is that it's the circle of life for animals.

I learnt about food webs in my class have you?

The Tiny Tsunami By Shivam

In Paihia we had a tsunami warning when we got to school in the morning. Some kids outside the gate said there was no school because there was  tsunami warnings we were so scared and shocked. After that we rushed home in fear. Then we started going to Kerikeri because everyone was saying thats far away from the beach we were so relieved. Before we started going to Kerikeri we picked up one of my dads staff and started going to Kerikeri. When we got there we got told that it was ok to go back home I was kinda annoyed because we drove all the way to Kerikeri for nothing. After that went back home and chilled out we felt relaxed. Then after a little I went to ride my bike and then my friends told me there was school and they stayed on a hill all day long. We figured out the tsunami was really small.

Have you ever experienced a tsunami and were you scared I was?
